This award will go to a friend or neighbour who have helped others living near them, whether it be running errands, looking after those living alone, or being a shoulder to cry on when times are tough.

As part of their line of duty, members of the emergency services are there to protect and serve the public. This award is for someone who has risked their own life to save another, going above and beyond their line of duty.

community project

Have you made things happen in your neighbourhood? We want to hear from groups that have worked tirelessly to improve the quality of life for people in their community. Whether you raised money for a new play area, organised a demonstration, campaigned for safer roads or supported youth groups.

carer of the year

We are searching for someone who is either looking
after a relative or friend, providing domiciliary care or is looking after an individual in a care home environment. We want you to help us find that one
person who goes above and beyond and puts the needs of other first.

Young sports star 

We are looking for a girl or boy, under the age of 18 who has achieved excellence in their chosen sport throughout the past 12 months, either as an individual or part of a team. Their entry must demonstrate commitment, dedication and sheer hard work.

child of courage

Do you know a youngster, aged 16 or under, who has had to endure heartache or pain and still showed a shining spirit? This could go to a child who has fought against illness or shown bravery beyond their years.

Business in the community

Businesses across North and North East Lincolnshire makes a huge contribution to their
community, whether by donating money and time or supporting local causes. This award highlights an exceptional case of a company or business person making a real contribution to their local community.

volunteer of the year

Ordinary members of the public devote countless hours to helping others in our community. This category will recognise the people who carry out a multitude of good work, without asking for anything in return.

community sports award

This award will recognise an outstanding example of an unsung hero in the field of amateur sport. Every week hundreds of men and women volunteer their time to act as coaches and trainers to make sport accessible for people in our communities to join in with sporting activities.

inspiring youngster

There are thousands of terrific youngsters out there, but we're looking for a role model, aged 16 or under, who deserves special recognition. This could be someone who has made a contribution to their community, taken steps to support important causes or fundraising for charities. These young people are the future – they are building their confidence and resilience, and are already working hard to be the change in creating a better world.

The Local Hero award will recognise remarkable acts of courage or selflessness by an ordinary member of the community. This might be someone who has helped to save a life or acted in a courageous way in their community.
